It was, frankly, the only beginner horn I tried in that particular shop that didn't need some minor adjusting and leak fixes. I was very much surprised about how good this horn played. It played better then a series III and a ref 54. The sound had a very good projection and was on the bright side but not too bright.It could certainly be a good horn, but it is past the prime period of the '30s, '40s, and early '50s. It kind of looks like a relac, but the engraving is sharp, so maybe not. And no, this is not a Big B or an Aristocrat. That is, a 1/8" or 5mm or whatever movement of the mpc, whether in (sharper) or out (flatter) will affect the high tones far more than the bottom end of the horn. Aaron, If that is the MP that came with the horn, they are usually pretty small openings and poor quality. Any decent MP will improve things.
